Why do they do this?

Today, my roommate and I went to South Bend Mall and while I was there I decided to
buy an iPod adaptor for the car for my girlfriend because she had been wanting one
for a while. On our way back I was excited and waiting for her reaction. When I saw
her I gave it to her and I saw that she was excited (I hope), so the first thing
that came to our minds was "let's try it".

We were in the car when we faced a problem that I have faced quite a few times
before. The adaptor was very hard to open because of all the packaging, which
included a plastic wrap and some cardboard which was very annoying. So I wondered:
"Why do they have to put all these things?" I mean, wouldn't it be cheaper for the
company not to put that much plastic, easier for the customer to open the product
and less harmful for our environment?

In conclusion, my point that I think that putting don't need that much packaging, it
is annoying, harmful for the environment and costly to the companies.

  1. Good point! I HATE packaging and, many times, choose to buy or not buy based on the packaging.
