Ritual me.

When I was reading 'Buyology' I couldn't believe how many little things are rituals in our day. I've never considered it a ritual but every morning I have my routine. I think you could even say going to work or going to school/classes are rituals. Rituals can bring people together, like Almost Anything goes, here at Andrews. Each class competes against each other and it brings a sort of class spirit, but also a school spirit, because your participating in an event sponsored by the school. Rituals also bring families together, I remember in past TV commercials, they were selling the 'family ritual' by getting everyone together and playing a board game, it was a wholesome family event.

Rituals can have a positive effect and I'll return to the example of families. You don't necessarily have to play board games, but if a family has a ritual that they do every year or week, like watching a movie together or going to the park, it brings them closer together and it's time you can always count on spending with your loved ones. To this day, on Sabbath, if it's not too cold, my mother, sister, and I will go to a local battlefield and walk and then close out the Sabbath by having worship there. We've been doing this for years and some Sabbath's I don't want to do go, but it is something my friends look forward too and when I really think about it, it's a nice way to get exercise and spend time in God's creation. Rituals sometimes let us take a break from the world, and focus on the things that really matter to us.
